Formatting values
Put a token in any text and it is replaced with data at render time. Wrap tokens in double curly braces. A token can add a filter after a |.
The basics
| Token | Prints |
|---|---|
{{field}} | The field's value |
{{field | date:"medium"}} | A date, using a preset |
{{field | date:"dd/MM/yyyy"}} | A date, using a custom pattern |
{{field | datetime:"24h"}} | A date and time |
{{field | number:"#,##0.00"}} | A number, using a pattern |
{{field | number:"decimal"}} | A number, using a preset |
{{field | number}} | A number, default pattern #,##0.## |
Declare a field as date, datetime or number in the schema panel and its format picker inserts the right token for you.
Date and datetime presets
| Preset | Date example | Datetime example |
|---|---|---|
medium | May 25, 2026 | May 25, 2026, 2:30 PM |
short | 5/25/2026 | 5/25/2026, 2:30 PM |
long | Monday, May 25, 2026 | Monday, May 25, 2026, 2:30 PM |
iso | 2026-05-25 | 2026-05-25T14:30:00 |
time | 2:30 PM | |
24h | 2026-05-25 14:30 |
time and 24h are datetime presets.
Custom date patterns
Use these pieces, plus 'literal text' in single quotes:
yyyy yy MMMM MMM MM M dddd ddd dd d HH H hh h mm m ss s tt t
Example: {{issuedAt | date:"dd/MM/yyyy"}}.
Numbers
Presets:
| Preset | Pattern | Example |
|---|---|---|
integer | #,##0 | 1,235 |
decimal | #,##0.00 | 1,234.50 |
percent | 0% | 12% |
A custom pattern uses 0 (a required digit), # (an optional digit), , (grouping), . (the decimal point), % (percent), 'literal' text, and a ; section for negative numbers. Rounding is half away from zero, done on the number's digits, so the PDF and the designer agree.
A value that can't be read as a number prints unchanged.
Values from the system
| Token | Prints |
|---|---|
{{$today | date:"long"}} | The date at render time |
{{$now | datetime:"short"}} | The date and time at render time |
{{$page}} / {{$pages}} | The page number and the page count |
The Dynamic values section of the schema panel inserts the date tokens, with a format choice.
Table columns
A table column has a format as setting (text, number, date…) with the same presets and patterns, so a column can format its values without tokens.
