Right-to-left text and fonts

Switch the whole document

Next to the paper picker, the page direction switch sets Left to right or Right to left.

Switching to right-to-left mirrors every element once: positions flip across the page, alignment and border sides swap, and tables take the new direction. A message reads "Layout mirrored" and ⌘Z / Ctrl+Z undoes the whole switch in one step.

New tables in a right-to-left document start right-to-left.

Direction per element

Text, field, list, markdown and signature elements have a direction:

SettingMeaning
autoThe first strong character decides. The default for new elements.
ltrAlways left to right.
rtlAlways right to left.

Older templates without a direction stay left to right. New text starts with alignment start, so it follows its direction.

Right-to-left tables

A table can be left-to-right or right-to-left. In a right-to-left table the columns flip visually, but the column list itself is never reordered. Cell alignment is logical: a stored "left" renders at the start of the line.

Fonts

The font picker is a single searchable list of 18 fonts, used wherever you choose a font. The fonts are the same ones the PDF renderer uses, so text prints in the PDF as it looks on the canvas.

Latin and Arabic text each use the matching face of the chosen font.
